How not to get a job

Application forms

When you apply for some jobns they will want you to fill in a form. These can be short or long and will all want a certain amount of information about you. Fill in the form according to any specific instructions. If there are no stated preferences then use a neat black pen. You can often download forms and use a word processor to fill them in.

There is often a space for writing about your skills for the job - "supporting information" or "Additional Information"... this is the bit where you need to closely match the skills you have with those needed for the job.

You may be asked for your national insurance number.

You will definately be asked for your name, address, contact details such as telephone, email, mobile.

Qualifications. Including school gained certificates, degrees, and other qualifications and courses you've successfully competed.

Include any driving licence and skills.

When can you start - remember you might need to give notice.

Additional skills - include any other courses or training, or self-taught skills. Include any software packages you're familir with.
