Emotional Inteligence course

learn how to deal with this and gain valuable skills

Visit the Emotional Inteligence course page now - this is a free course.

Did you know that a major factor in your career and life success is your Emotional Intelligence? In fact, studies of star performers show that 85% of what sets them apart from average performers is down to superior EI skills.

Emotional Intelligence is emerging as the single most effective business skill of the new century. Advancing your Career with Emotional Intelligence puts the theory into practice and shows you how to improve in key areas such as Innovation, Intuition, Self-awareness and Goal Setting. Apply now and discover how to become the person you really want to be.

The course covers:

Unit one - Innovation
Unit two - Self-awareness
Unit three - Intuition
Unit four - Emotional Management
Unit five - Goal orientation
Unit six - Empathy
Unit seven - Social skills
Unit eight - Accelerated learning

Unit one - Innovation

Understand your creative preferences and your ability to generate innovative responses to business and personal problems. This unit gives you practical techniques to break old habits and develop new ways of generating ideas.

Unit two - Self-awareness

Be more effective at work by really understanding your personal strengths and weaknesses. You’ll do a self-assessment of your strengths, weaknesses, personal beliefs and feelings and learn how this links to your level of focus upon self-improvement.

Unit three - Intuition

This unit focuses upon the degree to which you use instincts, hunches and feelings (combined with facts) when making decisions. You’ll explore intuitive feeling skills and learn how to develop the confidence to believe in your gut reactions.

Unit four - Emotional Management

Learn how to understand and differentiate your emotions and how to manage the impact your emotions have on others. In this unit you will identify triggers to negative emotions and learn how to develop positive alternative responses.

Unit five - Goal orientation

In this unit the emphasis is on your desire to achieve, your ability to persist and the energy you have to see things through. You’ll work through exercises that will help you to identify what truly motivates you to have drive and energy.

Unit six - Empathy

This unit will help you to take a measure of your ability to show an interest in others, to listen to them and to ‘feel their feelings’. You will find out how to tune in to non-verbal cues and ‘read’ people better.

Unit seven - Social skills

Your social skills will cover a wide range of areas. This unit focuses upon building relationships and communicating. You’ll learn how to build relationships based on deeper values in order to develop real trust.

Unit eight - Accelerated learning

The ability to learn more quickly and flexibly is extremely valuable and closely linked to your emotions and feelings. This unit will introduce techniques that you can use to harness the power of left and right brain thinking and includes speed- reading techniques for fast results.

How long does it take?

Advancing your Career with Emotional Intelligence is a 120-hour course. You can study at your own pace for as little as three hours a week, so you should finish it in 8 - 10 months. But, if you want to work faster you can – it’s entirely up to you.

Although the course is free, your commitment is time. We’ll give you hints and tips and a study planner to help you build regular study slots into your busy lifestyle.

The support you’ll get

You will be assigned to a Further Education college in your area, who will then provide you with an online tutor. Your tutor will be available to help and guide you through the course. You can contact your tutor at any time using v-mail, vision2learn’s own internal messaging system.

Before you get started on your course we ask that you complete a short course induction. From your induction, your tutor can assess the level of support you will need and form an Individual Learning Plan for you. This plan will set out a realistic timeframe for you, and your tutor will negotiate deadline dates for submitting coursework. Tutor support is not only available by v-mail, but also by telephone or e-mail.

About the qualification

Studying Advancing your Career with Emotional Intelligence leads to the accredited qualification NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Personal Effectiveness at Work.

In order to successfully achieve your qualification you will need to complete self-assessment exercises as you work through each unit of the course. You will also complete a series of activities, which you’ll send to your tutor through the v-mail system on vision2learn. Your tutor will assess these and they will build up to form your portfolio.

When you have completed all eight units, you submit your portfolio and take an end of course assessment. The assessment for this qualification is a timed case study. You will be allocated 3 hours to complete it and you will need to attend the college for this. Upon successfully passing your assessment you will receive your certificate.

The computer kit you’ll need

An Internet enabled PC running MS Windows and Internet Explorer 5 (or later), or Netscape 6 (or later), with JavaScript and cookies enabled
Email software and an active email account
Microsoft Word or similar word processing package

Download Adobe Acrobat
Why it’s free

Vision2learn courses are funded by the Learning and Skills Council. This means that the courses are normally free of charge to anyone over the age of 16 who has been ordinarily resident in England for 3 years or more, as long as this residency has been for purposes other than full-time study. If you don’t meet these requirements, there may be other ways for your course to be funded and you can contact us on info@vision2learn.com for more information on this.

How to keep your free place open

It’s important that you log on to your study area regularly, keep in contact with your tutor and complete the assignments as you work through your course. If you don’t do this you may lose your free place. If you are experiencing any problems with your learning please let your tutor know and they can help you and ensure that you remain enrolled on the course.
